We all know how great coconut oil is for your diet, but did you know you could also use it on your skin? It is high in fatty acids, vitamin E, and it is antimicrobial. This is like a super product! Here are some beauty tips with coconut oil that I use:

Face Moisturizer

I love using coconut oil as my night time moisturizer! The fatty acids are super hydrating, and not to mention, the yummy and tropical scent is to die for!

Manicure Protector

Yes, use coconut oil for your nails after a fresh manicure! The oil helps protect the fresh paint by adding some “slip” if you were to accidentally bump it somewhere. The oil will also help to moisturize your cuticles, and make your nails super shiny!

Body Scrub

Make your own body scrubs, or even lip scrubs, by mixing some oil with sugar. Add in some essential oils for therapeutic properties and an amazing scent.

Makeup Remover

Yes, you read that right! Oil removes oil, so it makes a perfect quick and easy makeup remover for hard to wash waterproof products. Rub the coconut oil all over your face, either with your fingertips or a cotton ball. Massage it around to make sure you loosen up all of the makeup. Take a warm, damp washcloth and wipe everything off. I like to repeat the process twice to make sure I get everything. Voila! A gentle and effective makeup remover that won’t completely strip your skin.

Hair Moisturizer

I like to add a bit of coconut oil to the damaged ends of my hair. It helps add some moisture, and helps to tame the frizz.

Deodorant

Not only can you use coconut oil for beauty, but for personal hygiene too! Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties, which will help fight off the bacteria that causes odor. I mix 3 parts coconut oil, 1 part baking soda, 1 part corn starch, and some essential oils like lavender and tea tree, for a natural deodorant.

No doubt coconut oil and beauty goes hand in hand. There are endless ways you can use it! I keep a separate jar in the kitchen and one for my beauty uses. So far, I am loving the results of this more natural alternative.
