I was not born gifted in the lash department. Being of Asian descent, I got the common traits of tiny, thin, pin straight lashes that point straight down.
There are lots of mascara out on the market, and everyone around me is always raving about a new one that’s come out and how amazing it is. Sure, it works amazing, CUZ YOU HAVE LASHES TO BEGIN WITH!
Mascaras do help my lashes out a bit, but not enough for my liking. Some have worked better than others, but most of the time, the mascaras just end up weighing my lashes straight down, looking too clumpy, and I find it’s really not worth the effort of putting mascara on at all.
I’ve tried those white eyelash primers before and they did not work at all. The results were horrible. Unlike face primers, I never really saw a point to the lash primers.
I have heard rave reviews about lash growth serums, but a lot of them are quite expensive and take a while to see the full results. Plus, had also read that they can change your eye color!
Then I heard about The Salon Shoppe’s “Dream Lash”. If you do a search for “Dream Lash”, you may get some results for lash extensions. That is NOT what I’m talking about. The product I’m talking about is here. It’s an eyelash enhancer that instantly adds length and volume to your lashes. No putting it on overnight and waiting weeks (or even months) for more beautiful lashes! I decided to give it a try, and here is my experience….
What is Dream Lash?
I read reviews online prior to my purchase, and it seems that some people are confused as to what this product really is.
This is a product that you use AFTER you put on your mascara. It is a dry product, not a “wet” one, like a mascara or a serum. The product is basically a bunch of hair-like fibers that attach to your mascara, adding length and volume. Hence, it is a lash “enhancer”, not a lash grower.
A lot of people are mistaking this product as a lash growth product, putting it on at night and seeing no results. Again, this is not the purpose of the product!
How Do You Use It?
The process is pretty simple. Apply a coat of mascara on first, then apply the Dream Lash on top of the mascara, when it is still wet. That is the key. The fibers need a way to “stick”, so you have to make sure that your mascara is wet. Once the fibers are on, I like to “seal” them in, so I do another coat of mascara on top.
TIP: To avoid getting the fibers in your eye, tilt your chin down and your eyes forward, so the fibers won’t fall directly into your eyes.
The Results
I’m using it here with Covergirl’s Lash Blast mascara.
I was shocked that this actually worked on my lashes! I thought it would end up looking like spider-leggy mess, but that was not the case.
My lashes didn’t weigh down, they have a nice curl to them, without looking “bent” (I HATE that!). And on top of that, Dream Lash did what it promised to do, add volume and length.
Now, my lashes still aren’t anything to be envious of after using the product, but it is a pretty big difference from my natural lashes. They look a heck of a lot fuller and you can actually see them now! Imagine if I actually had lashes to begin with!!!
What I Like About Dream Lash
-
Instant results. No waiting around to see the results.
- You can use this with any mascara brand
-
Didn’t irritate my eyes (I have sensitive eyes)
-
It works!
What I Didn’t Like
-
One bottle is smaller than a regular mascara bottle. But you don’t need to use a lot, so maybe it’ll last the same amount of time.
-
The fibers can get a little messy. I always do my eye makeup before my skin makeup, so that helps.
Overall Thoughts
I think Dream Lash is a great product to help enhance your lashes. Though this is an extra step to mascara, I would totally skip the lash primers and use this instead. It made my lashes nice and full, and I think if I did another coat of Dream Lash+mascara, my lashes would build even more volume and length.
