Lipsticks are one of those items in my makeup kit that I feel I can definitely save a few pennies on, and head straight to the drugstore to see what’s on sale that week. Don’t get me wrong, I love my YSL lipsticks, but for 1/10 of the price, I can do without the luxurious packaging and fragrance.
Last week the Kate Moss for Rimmel lipsticks were on sale for $5, and being the lipstick hoarder I am, I had to buy some! I opted for the matte lipsticks in the red tubes, because I’ve been rocking the super glossy and balmy Revlon lip butters for awhile, and wanted something new. I got #103 and #110.
#103 is a cool toned mauve-y pink on me when I look in the mirror. I loved that it looked like my lips but better (MLBB). But in certain lighting, or when I take photos with flash, the colour is a cool medium bubblegum pink. The mauve-y-ness seems to disappear when the light hits it. I was on the market for a MLBB shade, so I was a bit disappointed. The brighter pink colour isn’t bad, just wasn’t what I was on the market for. I would still wear it! Grab it on Amazon
#110 is a bright orange-red coral, perfect for summer! Upon first application, I was surprised at how smooth it was. This colour is also pretty pigmented. Because of the slip, I do find it slides off quickly. I fix this by blotting my lips lightly after the first coat, and put a little bit more on after. I love mixing this with nudes or pinky nudes to get a different shade of coral! This is also available on Amazon.
Pros: Great finish, has some slip to help with the dry lip look
Cons: Slight sweet chemical scent. Can bring out lots of imperfections if your lips are flakey!
Overall, for the price I paid, I definitely think they were worth it!
