I’ve heard lots about BB crèmes and how magical they are, but never got the chance to try any. So when I received a bottle of the Dior Hydra Life BB Creme, I was ecstatic! I couldn’t wait to try it out to see what the hype was all about…
In Western markets, BB stands for beauty balm. The purpose of a beauty balm is meant to be an all-in-one product that combines all of your skincare/face essentials including serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sun block. Yay to cutting down the time to get ready in the mornings!
Hydra Life BB Creme promises to provide just that, the moisture and protection of a skincare product, all while evening out your skin like a foundation. It has an SPF of 30, black rose which helps the skin defend against free radicals, and the micro pearl pigments help diffuse any imperfections.
Let’s check it out:
I applied the BB cream to my clean skin. I have combination skin, and usually apply coconut oil to moisturize my face after washing, but decided to skip it this time, just to test out the moisturizing properties of the Dior BB crème.

The product comes in a bottle with a pump (as opposed to a squeeze tube), which I prefer, because it makes it a lot easier and more clean to use. It also helps prevent product wastage. I used about half a pump for each side of my face. I am crazy lazy, so I just used my clean fingers to apply this!

The colour I have is Golden Peach, which is the medium shade. It’s a little bit darker than my skin, but I don’t mind. It’s not too big of a difference where I’ll look like an oompa loompa. The product blends in very easily and smoothly. It took me about 30 seconds to finish covering my entire face! I didn’t use any concealer in addition to the BB. I just patted some extra product onto the spots that needed more concealing.
My skin was definitely more evened out, and I was surprised with the coverage I got from this. I was expecting the same coverage as a tinted moisturizer. It covered better than some liquid foundations I’ve tried in the past! I didn’t apply any concealer, I think this is enough coverage for day to day use. If it were a special occasion, I might have gone the extra mile and used some 😛
It gave my skin a fresh, dewy finish. My skin looked less thin, and more plump. If you are someone with mature skin, I would definitely recommend this if you are after that youthful glow.
What I Liked
– Great coverage, I didn’t feel the need to use concealer
– I can skip all of the extra skin care steps when I use this
– Kept my skin well moisturized
– Love a dewy finish!
What I Didn’t Like
– I find that with most luxury brands, they tend to add a signature fragrance to their makeup products. Some people love this, but I hate it. The scent did wear off after about 1.5 hours, but I would still prefer if it didn’t have a scent.
– With such a small shade selection (only three!) some people may not be able to find their “perfect” colour.
– The heavy price tag might also turn people off from this product

Where To Buy
You can find this at on Amazon or Sephora stores.
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone with dry or combination skin. It has a dewy finish, so anyone with extremely oily skin may not enjoy it as much.
What’s your fave BB cream? Is there something that you think I MUST try?
